Data Architecture and Governance Manager

Job Summary

Maintain and update conceptual, logical, and physical data models while defining integration patterns and architectural principles for the enterprise ecosystem. Own the data governance framework, setting policies, standards, and quality expectations to ensure data accuracy, trust, and regulatory compliance across global functions. Act as the internal technical authority for both outsourced engineering and in-house development, reviewing designs, approving structural changes, and guiding external delivery teams to align with governance standards. Translate business requirements into clear architectural direction, support the multi-year data roadmap, and manage vendor performance against SLAs and contractual commitments. Conduct regular service reviews, monitor operational KPIs, and resolve data quality issues in collaboration with Data Business Managers and stewards. Work minimum three days per week in the Porto office with occasional international travel to other Elementis sites.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, data management, or related field
  • Proven experience in data governance, data architecture, or a hybrid role combining both
  • Experience designing and maintaining enterprise data models or governance frameworks, including track-record of creating simple and robust documentation
  • 5+ plus of experience working with outsourced engineering teams or third-party data service providers (preferably having the responsibility for managing the third party)
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive adoption of governance and architectural standards
  • Experience in complex, global manufacturing organisations is highly advantageous
  • Clear understanding of Cloud based technology, preferably Azure, Databricks and best practice data lake methodology
  • Expertise in Power BI
  • Verbal and written fluency in English
  • Minimum 3 days per week in the Porto office
  • Occasional international travel to other Elementis sites as required

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in complex, global manufacturing organisations is highly advantageous
