Job Summary
As a Data Architect at 3M, you will define and govern enterprise data architecture standards that enable scalable, reliable, and reusable data products. You will guide architectural design for domain-aligned data products and establish reference architectures for data ingestion, transformation, analytics, and secure access. The role requires a Bachelor's degree and at least 12 years of experience in data engineering or related fields, along with expertise in cloud platforms, specifically AWS. Strong knowledge of Lakehouse or hybrid data architectures, and the ability to guide engineering teams are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
- Minimum twelve (12) or more years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data architecture
- Experience designing and governing data solutions on cloud platforms, with preference for AWS
- Strong knowledge of Lakehouse or hybrid data architectures, SQL-based transformation, and analytical data platforms
- Proven ability to influence and guide engineering teams without direct reporting authority
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in computer science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline from an accredited institution
- Experience operating within a data product or domain-aligned delivery model
- Familiarity with data governance, observability, lineage, and cost management practices
- Experience working in a large, global enterprise environment
- Strong collaboration, communication, and technical leadership skills
