Job Summary
Design and evolve healthcare data architecture, leading database modernization and scalability initiatives across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL environments. Define interoperability strategy using HL7 and FHIR standards while designing integration approaches for EMR, laboratory, pharmacy, and national health systems. Collaborate with engineering teams on architecture decisions and support analytics, reporting, and AI initiatives. Improve data quality, governance, and performance while mentoring engineers on best practices. This role operates within a large-scale primary healthcare platform serving Africa, focusing on enterprise-grade database schemas and distributed system environments.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or Solution Architecture
- Strong experience with SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL
- Experience with NoSQL databases
- Enterprise data modeling experience
- Experience with REST APIs and system integrations
- Experience with distributed systems
- Strong architecture and design skills
- Experience with HL7 and/or FHIR
- Experience designing enterprise-grade database schemas and healthcare data models
- Strong understanding of scalable software architecture and performance optimization
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Upper-intermediate English level
