Job Summary
Data Architect role focusing on the canonical event envelope, schema evolution, and the read-side architecture for a large-scale data platform. You will own Postgres schema design with tenant isolation via row-level security, implement upcasters and projections, design for scalable AI workloads with vector stores and embedding pipelines, and ensure governance, lineage, and audit readiness. The role requires deep Postgres expertise, production experience with event-sourced systems, familiarity with streaming platforms (Kafka, Redpanda, Pulsar, Kinesis), and experience designing analytics-ready data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, ClickHouse) plus modern OLAP patterns. Collaboration with Solution Architect and Senior Developer, running on a hybrid schedule in Dallas, TX, with in-office Tuesdays–Thursdays. Responsibilities include writing migration playbooks, upcaster chains, projection rebuild procedures, and runbooks to keep the data layer reliable, scalable, and auditable.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of data engineering, data platform, or database architecture experience
- Production experience with event-sourced systems
- Postgres expertise: schema design, indexing, RLS
- Experience with streaming platforms: Kafka, Redpanda, Pulsar, or Kinesis
- Production analytical data infrastructure experience: warehouse design (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, ClickHouse) or modern OLAP patterns
- Hands-on AI/ML data infrastructure experience: vector databases, embedding pipelines, retrieval patterns
- Strong SQL
- Nice to have: Drizzle, Prisma, or another modern TS ORM; workflow engines; feature stores; ML pipelines; semantic layer experience; compliance experience
