Job Summary
Update normalization models based on fresh data sets to maintain pricing precision and optimize automation to increase model accuracy. Analyze large, complex data sets to uncover hidden insights and recommend data-driven solutions for business strategy. Contribute to designing analytics processes and tools that improve output while collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop dashboards. Present actionable insights to senior leadership and reporters, explaining commodity market mechanics from economic and technical perspectives.
Required Qualifications
- Expertise in using R, Python, SQL and Excel and working with large data sets
- Familiarity with building data pipelines and combining data from multiple sources
- Comfort in applying regression analysis
- Familiarity with Snowflake
- Understanding of statistics, forecasting and research tools
- Understanding of economic principles and commodity markets
- Expertise in using AI tools
Desired Qualifications
- Periodically update normalization models based on fresh data sets on tight schedules to maintain pricing precision
- Optimize and automate normalization models to increase model accuracy and identify patterns and variables that may be unaccounted for
- Understand how commodity markets and the pricing of those markets work from economic and technical perspectives, and be able to explain these concepts internally and externally
- Contribute to the design and implementation of data analytics processes and tools to improve analytical and pricing output
- Analyse various large and complex data sets to uncover hidden insights and provide recommendations to support business decisions and strategies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritise business problems and develop data-driven solutions
- Present/communicate actionable, data-driven insights and recommendations to key stakeholders, including members of Fastmarkets' senior leadership team
- Cultivate strong working relationships with reporters and editors
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, presenting actionable insights and suggestions for developing data dashboards and solutions
