Job Summary
Diagnose, repair, and maintain waste collection vehicles and equipment; mentor apprentices to support their training; adhere to Miller Waste safety protocols and Health & Safety Act; perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections; diagnose and repair diesel engines along with hydraulic and electrical systems; ensure shop and grounds are clean and organized; collaborate with Operations Supervisors and drivers; operate tools and machinery per safety procedures; possess or be in the process of obtaining a Red Seal Journeyperson certificate with related Driver’s Licence; willing to work flexible hours including potential late shifts and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Journeyperson Certificate or enrollment in Truck & Transport Technician (Red Seal) program
- Valid Driver’s Licence
- Ability to perform MVI inspections
- Familiarity with hydraulic and electrical systems
- Strong technical knowledge of equipment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong self-management and organizational skills
- Provide own tools and willingness to acquire more as required
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to work late, weekends, and holidays as needed
