Job Summary
Conduct crisis counseling, safety planning, and advocacy for victims of crime, including those who have contacted police or wish to file reports. Accompany clients to hospitals, police departments, and courts while managing claims filing and emergency financial assistance. Provide information and referrals following agency protocols and expand service reach through community presentations and tabling events. Participate in on-call rotation for 24-hour hotline coverage and attend bi-weekly meetings with liaisons from the District Attorney's Office, Police Department, and other community agencies. Complete administrative tasks including documenting activities, preparing weekly and monthly reports, maintaining client records, and inputting data into the client database. Requires a bachelor's degree in human services or 3-5 years of related experience, NYS DOH Rape Crisis Counselor certification, and ability to travel to various work locations throughout the shift.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in the human services or related field
- 3-5 years relative work experience in human services, counseling, and/or advocacy
- Training certification as NYS DOH Rape Crisis Counselor
- Mandated reporter training
- Ability to get to and from various work locations throughout work shift and outside of office hours for on-call purposes
- Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of an e-mail package and MS software programs: Word and Excel
- Established cell phone, willing to use for work (will be reimbursed), with effective coverage for the Dutchess County area
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without work sponsorship
