Job Summary
Conduct aggressive case-finding of persons who are homeless in the Downtown Akron area through personal networking at meal sites, shelters, and on the street. Assess individuals for service appropriateness, develop rapport, and assist with accessing basic necessities, housing, and entitlement programs. Coordinate outreach services with Block by Block and Downtown Akron Partnership staff while providing consultation on behavior management and mental health issues. Participate in regular team meetings, schedule evaluations, and assist in crisis intervention and stabilization during scheduled hours and after-hours emergencies per agency procedures. Maintain documentation, provide statistical reports, and facilitate referrals to PATH, AoD outreach workers, or other community resources as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience in working with persons who have a severe mental illness
- A car
- A valid Ohio driver's license
- Insurability through the Agency's insurance carrier
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Service field preferred
- LSW preferred
