Job Summary
Danish Interpreter for DOJ Linguistic Support Services (LSS) to support translation, interpretation, transcription and other linguistic tasks. Responsibilities include translating documents and media, court/deposition interpretation, handling materials across legal, business, public administration, medical, scientific, financial, historical, geographical, and military domains. Work involves sensitive materials requiring strict confidentiality; must provide interpretation within 3 hours of request and have substantial court/legal interpretation experience, ILR 3 minimum, U.S. residency history, and relevant security clearance. Remote options exist along with locations in Washington, DC area and NCR; travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Specialized training in interpreting or extensive court/legal environment experience in the required language
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in language interpretation in the required mode
- Qualifying ILR 3 minimum or equivalent on language/translation tests
- Must have lived 3 of the last 5 years in the U.S.
- At least 1 year of experience with a law enforcement and/or legal department
- Must be a U.S. citizen; Naturalized citizen; or Green Card holder with a SSN
- Knowledge of English and foreign language vocabularies used in formal, legal, diplomatic, consultative, and casual modes including regionalisms
- Knowledge of specialized vocabulary in English and the foreign language related to the Government’s varied roles and missions
- Fluent in English and foreign language including regionalisms and colloquial slang
- Interpretation must be accurate without changes, omissions, or additions
- Preserve tone and register of source materials
- Abide by codified linguist ethics
- Active Public Trust or higher security clearance
- Location: Remote / National Capital Region / Various CONUS Locations
- Travel: Some travel may be required
