Job Summary
Co-facilitate or lead individual and group dance/movement therapy sessions for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children and their caregivers. Support parent-child dyadic work using movement-based interventions to enhance attachment, emotional regulation, and communication. Observe and document child development, play behavior, and relational dynamics within therapeutic settings. Participate in clinical supervision and weekly team case conferences. Collaborate with mental health professionals and educators to support children's social-emotional development. Assist in the planning and implementation of creative arts-based programming and family engagement events. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including session notes and treatment plans, in accordance with organizational policies and ethical standards. Engage in reflective practice and ongoing learning around trauma, diversity, and cultural humility. This internship is designed for a graduate student currently enrolled in an accredited Dance/Movement Therapy program seeking clinical experience with young children (ages birth to five) and their caregivers.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Master's level Creative Arts Therapy program
- Strong interest in infant and early childhood mental health and working with underserved communities
- Foundational understanding of child development, attachment theory, and trauma-informed care
- Experience with or enthusiasm for working with very young children and caregivers
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary, community-based setting
- Strong communication, observation, and interpersonal skills
