Job Summary
Supervise all activities to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of elementary students while developing and implementing culturally responsive lesson plans in hip-hop, ballet, modern, and other dance styles. Create a positive learning environment that honors diverse student backgrounds, manage classroom spaces and materials, and build relationships with youth and adults as a role model. Incorporate skill-building activities that progress over time, culminating in a student showcase or performance, and complete all program reports including supply requests, lesson plans, incident reports, attendance, and timesheets. Assist the Program Coordinator with ordering equipment and supplies, and actively participate in training sessions, meetings, and special events.
Required Qualifications
- Experience teaching dance to elementary-age children in school, camp, or community program settings
- Minimum of 2 years of academic preparation in dance or creative movement, or equivalent training
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities, people and projects effectively
- Experience in providing individualized and group instruction to meet the needs of youth with various level of skills
- Experience designing and teaching courses to ensure youth success and supports youth-centered learning
- Demonstrated knowledge of teaching dance including but not limited to Hip-Hop, African Dance, Latin, Jazz, Modern, Ballet, and Lyrical to elementary-school youth with an emphasis on skill building, recreation, and development
- A genuine enthusiasm for developing professional skills through training opportunities and field practice
- Comply with School Age Child Care (SACC) requirements including background check and medical clearance
- Must be available 2-5 days per week
- Must be available for the school year from September through June
