Job Summary
Prepare and develop age- and skill-appropriate curriculum, lesson plans, and special projects that fuse arts and academic competencies for review before teaching. Work with program participants to develop their artistic, educational, and leadership potential through scaffolded activities that promote teamwork, mastery, and emotional growth. Facilitate purposeful activities in community hours, beginning and ending rituals, and group conversations while tracking and supporting students' academic success. Foster a strength-based, trauma-informed environment emphasizing belonging, safety, and community. Attend staff meetings and perform other duties as assigned. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 2pm to 6pm, for 8–10 hours weekly from September to June.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience and/or training relevant to the position
- Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based, youth and family development and trauma-informed perspective
Desired Qualifications
- Candidates with some college
- experience with adolescents
- teaching/coaching youth
- Flexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm for young people
- Excellent planning, organization and time management skills
- Ability to engage youth, while setting structure and limits in a group setting
- Energetic, motivated self-starter and a team player
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
