Job Summary
Analyze blueprints to determine construction project locations and identify the depth of utilities for fiber optic cables using electrical, magnetic, GPS, and radar techniques. Map utility locations and document site interactions in organizational software while communicating with clients and engineers. Proactively identify potential problem areas to ensure network integrity and inspect cabinets, buried cables, and outdoor facilities in various weather conditions. Pinpoint coordinates using surveying equipment and maintain tools, test sets, and network equipment while coordinating shipping and receiving of materials. Operate on a rotating 24/7/365 schedule including standby, call out, and dispatch as required, with travel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Up to 1 year of relevant experience in field construction tasks
- Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization (OPT, TN, H1B, or other visas)
- Ability to operate on-call 24/7/365 on a rotating schedule, including standby, call out, dispatch, and overtime
- Ability to regularly lift objects weighing up to 100 pounds and move them clear of the job site
- Possession of a state-issued driver license for the state in which you live
- Ability to maintain eligibility to operate a company issued vehicle per Zayo policy (no more than 2 moving violations within the past 3 years)
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience with utility locating and fiber optic cable builds
- Basic understanding of underground installations
- Proficiency in using computers, cell phones, test equipment, Microsoft Windows operating system, and Office applications
