Job Summary
Plans, directs and supervises team members in day-to-day store operations across departments, serving as mentor and coach, with responsibilities for staffing, hiring, promotion decisions, and managing P&L and shrink. Drives customer service and sales while maintaining store appearance, training, and ensuring Meijer standards. Leads development and succession planning, communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative, and fosters a safe, inclusive work environment. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, 2-3 years retail experience, and at least one year of management experience; offers rotational experience across store areas and certifications.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or its equivalent required
- 2-3 years of related retail experience
- One year of management experience
- Rotational assignments in other areas of the store (meat, bakery, produce and deli); customer service and product flow experience helpful
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and provide direction
- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and address root causes
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information to inform decisions
- Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling
- Demonstrated ability to mentor team members across SDITs and hourly positions
- Successful completion of all required certifications
- Commitment to safety and operating with Meijer standards
