Job Summary
Implement an instructional program as set forth by the classroom teacher while adhering to Stafford County School Board Policies and Regulations. Maintain an organized program of instruction based on provided lesson plans, communicate objectives to students, and preserve the regular classroom routine. Utilize appropriate teaching techniques and materials to adapt subject content to students' needs, develop resources to augment lesson plans, and assume responsibility for the care of materials, equipment, and facilities. Practice positive interaction with students to demonstrate enthusiasm for learning and encourage self-direction. Complete a full teaching day according to specific hours, provide a summary of the day's activities for the classroom teacher, and engage in ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Substitutes must be at least 19 years of age
- in their second year of college
- All high school substitutes must be at least 21 years of age
- in their senior year of college
- School and School Board policies and regulations and guidelines provided in the Substitute Teacher's Onboarding, Orientation, and additional required trainings
- Classroom management strategies
- Use of written, verbal, or other forms of effective communication
- thorough knowledge of English grammar and usage
- Work cooperatively in a team environment to meet goals
- Organize and perform work independently
- Meet deadlines for all work even when working on multiple projects
- Show sustained effort and enthusiasm in quality and quantity of work
- Maintain a clean, neat appearance and dress appropriate to position and duties
- Maintain a record of appropriate attendance and punctuality
- Serve as a role model for students, colleagues, and the general public
- Work in close harmony with supervisor(s) and colleagues
- Comply with all division policies and regulations, including but not limited to guidelines for confidentiality and professional conduct, as well as all site-based procedures and protocols
