Job Summary
DaaS Services Engineer role focusing on implementing and sustaining cloud data platforms and industrial data solutions end-to-end. Responsibilities include supporting business requirements, researching technical developments, designing and tuning database resources, ensuring information security, documenting processes, testing IT performance, and maintaining technical/user documentation. Candidates should have experience with cloud data engineering, relational databases, time-series data, industrial protocols, scripting/programming (Python, PowerShell), and a strong emphasis on data integrity, security, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, willingness to learn, and familiarity with energy/industrial sectors.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related field or Equivalent Level of experience
- Experience in providing customer support in an IT solutions environment
- Familiarity with cloud data engineering and industrial data systems concepts
- Experience working with cloud products and technologies
- Familiarity with Relational Databases (e.g, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
- Familiarity with time-series data management
- Knowledge of industrial protocols and data historians; (e.g., OPC DA/UA, MQTT, Modbus, COM/DCOM)
- Experience with OSIsoft/AVEVA PI System a plus
- Programming skills across various languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and architectures a plus
- Experience providing training to small groups a plus
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Demonstrates willingness and ability to learn new tools quickly
- Demonstrates empathy to customers reporting software issues
- Ability to work closely with key clients to understand business requirements
- Understanding of energy-sector operations, particularly within oil & gas, refining, and petrochemical environments a plus
- Basic understanding of change management
- Ability to work well in a virtual team environment under supervision
- Able to communicate directly with client about technical issues
- Professionalism and ambassadorial conduct
