Job Summary
Lead procurement, design, manufacture, test, and delivery of the Main Propulsion Motor (MPM) for the COLUMBIA Class submarine's electric drive propulsion system. Provide oversight and direction of shipyard construction and test activities, including assembly procedures, manufacturing troubleshooting, and technical requirement disposition. Participate in technical discussions with vendors, prime contractors, and nuclear NAVY customers while reviewing internal documentation to ensure specification compliance. Mentor entry-level engineers in technical rigor and staff work to develop complex equipment. Provide oversight at vendor facilities and the Philadelphia Compatibility Test Facility to support component outfitting and installation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's of Science Degree in an engineering discipline
- 5+ years of related engineering experience
- Current DOD Secret security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret security clearance
- U.S. citizenship
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly motivated
- Experience working successfully both in a team environment and independently
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of technical drawing interpretation and GD&T
- Familiar with standard operating and/or test procedure development
- Knowledge of component integration to ship structures
- Operations/construction support experience
- Experience in submarine electronics or mechanical system development, integration, installation and test
- Project management skills with a working knowledge of the principles of analytical problem-solving techniques
