Job Summary

Provide psychiatric assessments, diagnostic impressions, and medication management for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities and concurrent mental health diagnoses. Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue treatments, order laboratory tests, and collaborate with counselors and social workers to coordinate client care and facilitate inpatient placements when needed. Design individualized treatment plans, counsel clients, and maintain accurate medical records, progress notes, and billing entries in compliance with state licensing and managed care regulations. Submit assessments and reports to funders and insurance entities as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in nursing
  • Valid Advanced Practice License granted by the Georgia composite state board of medical examiners
  • Certification in one of the following specialties: General Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, or a related discipline
  • Specialty in Psychiatric Medicine
  • Certification to practice as a nurse practitioner through approval by the Georgia board of nursing
  • At least one (1) year of experience providing mental health and substance abuse treatment
  • Satisfactory background clearance
  • Pre-employment drug test
  • Two (2) Professional references (Former employers only, no family members)
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience with the chronically mentally ill population
  • Strong clinical skills
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to multi-task and remain organized
