Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Medical Director of Anatomic Pathology, cytotechnologists microscopically examine human cellular samples from various body sites, mark pertinent findings, and make preliminary cytological interpretations for non-gynecologic specimens. The role includes performing quality control checks, overseeing receipt, accessioning and processing of cytology specimens, and performing related duties. Requires a Bachelor's degree from an approved cytotechnology program, CLIA 88 qualification, and ASCP certification; molecular modalities coursework is desirable. This is a PRN position at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC, within Johns Hopkins Medicine, with on-site responsibilities and rotating shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an approved cytotechnology program as outlined by CLIA 88
- ASCP certification
- Qualification as a cytotechnologist under CLIA 88
- Experience in cytotechnology with non-gynecologic specimens (preferred: 2 years)
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Cytotechnology or equivalent
- ASCP certification
- CLIA 88 qualification and designation as cytotechnologist
- Experience screening non-gynecologic specimens including fine-needle aspirations (preferred)
- Molecular modalities coursework (desirable)
