Job Summary
Perform Rapid On-Site Evaluations of FNA specimens to determine specimen adequacy and microscopically examine slide preparations for cytologic evaluation on both gynecologic and non-gynecologic samples. Correlate clinical information with morphologic findings to render final diagnoses on negative slides and evaluate abnormal specimens pending pathologist review. Troubleshoot test anomalies, respond to supply and equipment issues, and ensure instruments are maintained according to quality control policies. Establish service priorities, monitor workflow for efficient delivery, and adhere to state workload limits while documenting all activities. Licensed Cytotechnologist required with ASCP certification and Thinprep training.
Required Qualifications
- Baccalaureate Degree with formal training from a CAHEA-accredited school of Cytotechnology
- Licensed as a Cytotechnologist under the New York State Department of Education
- Certified in Cytotechnology by certifying agency approved by HHS (ASCP)
- Thinprep Certification
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in performing Rapid On-Site Evaluation procedures
- Minimum of 1-2 years Cytotechnologist experience
