Job Summary
Screen and interpret gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens (Pap tests, body fluids, FNAs, ROSE when applicable); prepare reagents and stains for gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens; mark abnormal areas on slides and provide preliminary diagnoses for pathologist review; participate in rapid onsite evaluations (ROSE) for FNAs when applicable; ensure accurate documentation in the LIS; correlate cytologic findings with clinical history and laboratory data; follow CAP/CLIA regulatory standards; assist in quality control/quality assurance programs and cytology workload records; collaborate with pathologists and clinical teams to support diagnostic accuracy; assist with training, orientation, competency assessments, and participate in quality improvement activities; maintain laboratory equipment, staining instruments, and supply inventory; contribute to research or implementation of new methodologies or technologies; participate in departmental meetings and interdisciplinary case discussions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or related biological science and graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited Cytotechnology program (or equivalent as recognized by ASCP/BOC)
