Cytologist I- Cytopathology

Job Summary
Prepare and stain clinical gynecological and non-gynecological specimens, then microscopically evaluate them using independent judgment to interpret cellular differences indicating malignant or pre-malignant changes. Assist pathologists or attending physicians with collecting body substances such as fine needle aspirations, while participating in research and development activities. Maintain accuracy and efficiency in completing patient tests, recording, and reporting results by utilizing computer entry and retrieval systems. Perform mentally demanding, repetitive tasks requiring in-depth knowledge of anatomy, histology, and benign and abnormal cytology across all body sites.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or related field
- Registered (ASCP; AMT; NCA; or equivalent) Cytotechnology
- Proficiency at computer entry/retrieval of lab results
- Ability to perform mentally demanding, repetitive tasks
- In-depth knowledge of anatomy; histology; benign and abnormal cytology of all body sites
- Ability to utilize independent judgment in generating test results
- Analytical skills to interpret cellular samples from all body sites
- Ability to maintain accuracy and efficiency in completing patient tests, recording, and reporting test results
- Knowledge of various complex and lengthy laboratory techniques and procedures
