Cytologist

Screen gynecological and non-gynecological cytologic preparations to determine abnormalities and assist Pathologists with diagnosis. Perform fine needle aspiration by advising clinicians on specimen collection, conducting rapid staining, and assessing specimen adequacy. Sign out negative gynecologic specimen reports and pass yearly Pap Proficiency Testing. Maintain equipment, manage inventory, and participate in quality assurance and validation of new instruments. Train new employees, maintain department records, and complete competency assessments while utilizing Laboratory Information System programs. Work full-time days at Geisinger Medical Laboratories, where you will interact with residents, fellows, and students in an academic teaching facility.
