Job Summary

Clinical Laboratory Geneticists at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level will lead the analysis and interpretation of karyotyping, FISH, microarray, and Optical Genome Mapping (OGM) analyses in oncologic, prenatal, and postnatal specimens. The role includes preparing and reviewing final test reports, assisting the Medical Director in operations related to specimen handling, testing, and reporting with emphasis on accuracy, confidentiality, and expediency. The candidate will develop and validate in-house assays for oncology and other clinically relevant applications; maintain SOPs and quality control practices; direct cytogenetics staff in proficiency testing per CLIA and CAP; collaborate with the Division of Molecular & Genomic Pathology, participate in resident/fellow education, and contribute to publishing, collaboration, and new test development. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience; full-time faculty appointment with participation in the UPMC/UPP faculty practice plan. Relocation expense reimbursement of $10,000 is provided.

Required Qualifications

  • MD/DO and/or PhD candidates in Biology that are ABMGG-Certified or Eligible for Certification in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics (LGG) or Cytogenetics are welcome to apply.
