Job Summary
Inspect and evaluate returned cylinder heads for damage, cracks, and wear using diagnostic tools, visual inspection, and precision measuring instruments. Perform machining operations such as resurfacing, valve seat cutting, valve guide replacement, and porting to restore cylinder heads to factory specifications. Conduct pressure testing and crack detection procedures to ensure cylinder heads are free of defects and suitable for remanufacturing. Rebuild cylinder heads by installing new components such as valves, valve seals, guides, and springs. Collaborate with production teams to ensure efficient workflow and meet production deadlines. Stay updated on industry best practices, tools, and techniques related to cylinder head repair and remanufacturing. This role reports to the Cylinder Team Lead at D&J Precision Machine in Cambridge, Ohio, with a focus on diesel engine restoration within a Burnout Brands Company.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a Cylinder Head Technician or similar role in an automotive or diesel engine repair/remanufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of cylinder head design, function, and machining processes
- Proficient in using precision tools, such as micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges, as well as diagnostic equipment for pressure testing and crack detection
- Experience with machining equipment, including surface grinders, valve grinders, and seat cutters
- Previous experience in a remanufacturing facility or high-performance engine shop
- Experience with diesel engine cylinder heads
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engine specifications
- Must be legally authorized to work in the USA
