Job Summary
Cybersecurity Student for an 8-month program in Edmonton, Alberta. Responsibilities include investigating cybersecurity incidents and threats, performing network security monitoring, improving detection and incident management processes, reviewing alerts, determining mitigation steps, assisting with automation and scripting, conducting incident escalations, maintaining IoT devices, using PowerBI dashboards for data visualization, contributing to R&D initiatives, documenting requirements and project deliverables, and collaborating with project managers and stakeholders. Ideal candidates demonstrate up-to-date technology awareness, effective communication, multi-task prioritization, teamwork under pressure, and foundational knowledge of Windows, Linux, PowerShell, Python, ServiceNow, Azure/Office 365, and basic networking, with a willingness to learn additional programming or scripting languages.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
- Knowledge of PowerShell, Python, scripting best practices, ServiceNow, and Microsoft Azure and Office 365
- Knowledge of basic networking concepts – Subnetting, LAN, WAN, VLAN, etc.
- Ability to learn programming or scripting languages (PowerShell, .NET, ServiceNow, or C#)
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to work under pressure in a team setting
- Flexible and reliable with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to think logically and analytically
- Interest in cybersecurity incidents, threat detection, and incident management
- Experience with PowerBI dashboards (or willingness to learn)
- Interest in automation and IoT device management
