Job Summary
Senior Systems Engineer – IDS Lead accountable for the Tier-II IDS operations supporting DISA’s enterprise sensing environment. Leads troubleshooting of Cisco Firepower sensor grid, maintains system health across 336 sensors and 8 FMCs, develops and maintains SOPs/incident response playbooks, supports ACAS/Nessus scanning and POA&M management, coordinates software patches and signatures, mentors junior engineers, and serves as primary technical point of contact with Government stakeholders for IDS sustainment. Requires active DoD Secret clearance, 10+ years in relevant DoD environments, hands-on Cisco Firepower/FTD/FMC expertise, Linux/virtualization/networking proficiency, and strong communication skills. Cisco Security certifications are highly desired.
Required Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret clearance (Required)
- Ten (10) or more years of experience in systems engineering or network security roles supporting large-scale DoD environments
- Hands-on experience managing Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) and Firepower Management Center (FMC)
- Strong understanding of network intrusion detection principles, signature-based alerting, and packet analysis
- Linux systems, virtualization, and enterprise networking concepts (routing, switching, TCP/IP)
- Tier-II operational support in a 24/7 environment
- ACAS/Nessus scanning, STIGs, POA&M management
- Ability to lead a small technical team and coordinate with multiple government/contractor teams
- Cisco Certified CyberOps Professional, CCNP Security, or equivalent highly desired
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
