Job Summary
Cybersecurity Engineer to support Kenworth and Peterbilt vehicle platforms; perform ECU- and vehicle-level threat modeling and risk assessments, translate cybersecurity risks into clear, testable security requirements and validation criteria, develop and execute cybersecurity verification and validation plans across ECUs and vehicle networks, conduct hands-on security testing and prepare test reports (CAN/J1939 testing; secure flashing and secure boot validation; authentication, authorization, and cryptographic services testing; diagnostic access control and misuse cases), review supplier cybersecurity artifacts, and collaborate with system architects, software teams, suppliers, and IT security to deliver practical cybersecurity solutions that scale across PACCAR platforms. Requires 7+ years of experience and a Bachelor's degree in a related field. Travel up to 10%, including internationally. Preferred: experience with ISO/SAE 21434, SecOC/J1939-91C, or key management; background in automotive systems; experience in multi-supplier automotive development; advanced degree/certifications.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant work experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Experience with automotive embedded systems, including ECUs, diagnostics, and CAN/J1939 networks
- Experience in cybersecurity testing, validation, or penetration testing in embedded or automotive environments
- Familiarity with: Secure flashing, secure boot, and diagnostic security (UDS)
- Cryptographic concepts applied to ECUs (keys, certificates, authentication)
- CAN based analysis tools (Python, CANoe, CANalyzer, CAPL, or custom tooling)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel up to 10%, including internationally
