Job Summary
Cybersecurity Engineer responsible for direct consulting with mission partners and SME across the CA portfolio to advance cybersecurity, operational resilience, and applied research. Lead engagements with customers, develop engineering guidance, and apply SEI/CMU technologies to solve real-world security challenges. Role involves traveling to customer sites (15-35%), leading multidisciplinary teams, mentoring less-experienced members, and communicating complex cybersecurity concepts to diverse stakeholders. Must be able to obtain DoD security clearance and be legally authorized to work in the United States. Positions located in Arlington, VA and Pittsburgh, PA with in-person collaboration. The role emphasizes risk measurement, resilience frameworks, and continuous improvement across cyber operations, technology controls, and business continuity, with opportunities to contribute to research and strategic guidance for government and industry partners.
Required Qualifications
- BS degree in a relevant discipline with 8 years of applicable experience
- MS degree in a relevant discipline with 5 years of applicable experience
- PhD in a relevant discipline with 2 years of applicable experience
- Technical leadership experience leading projects for a technical discipline
- Security clearance eligibility: must be able to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance
- Certifications: CISSP, CISM, CISA, PMP, CCNA-Security, SSCP, A+, Network+ CE, or equivalent
- Experience with cybersecurity and resilience standards (e.g., NIST CSF, NIST SP 800 series, ISO 27000 series)
- Experience deploying information technology security technology, network design/maintenance, cloud services
- Ability to mentor and lead diverse teams; strong communication skills
- Travel: Frequent (15-35%) to various locations and sites
- Experience with customer engagements and program/project leadership
- Background in audits/assessment methodologies
- Familiarity with governance, risk management, and compliance concepts
