Cybersecurity Assessment and Authorization Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Job Summary

Execute DoW/DLA cybersecurity processes to authorize information systems, maintain authorization status, or serve as a Subject Matter Expert for systems undergoing the authorization process. Determine residual risk for identified vulnerabilities and assess ramifications on current or future authorization. Brief senior management on progress and results of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process while applying advanced technical principles to solve complex problems. Demonstrate exceptional written and oral communications skills to lead, mentor teams, and provide quality oversight ensuring all cybersecurity artifacts meet DoD standards and inspection-ready levels. Requires five years of C&A experience, RMF/NIST expertise, and Secret clearance.

Required Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of relevant C&A experience
  • Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST C&A experience
  • DOD cybersecurity experience
  • Experience in assessing security controls and conducting authorization reviews for large, complex organizations
  • SME level experience in assessing security controls and conducting authorization reviews for large, complex organizations
  • Secret clearance
  • Moderate Risk, Non-Critical Sensitive, Tier 3 (T3)/NACLC/ANACI at the time of proposal submission
  • DOD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification
  • Category IAM Level III

  • Demonstrated expertise in leading and mentoring teams, providing clear guidance, quality oversight, and technical direction to ensure all cybersecurity artifacts meet DoD standards, organizational expectations, and inspection‐ready quality levels
