Job Summary
Senior Cybersecurity Advisor embedded with the South American Ministry of Defense to advise on cyber defense and support Global Defense Reform Program initiatives. Responsibilities include building cyber capability within the MoD, coordinating with interagency partners, developing joint cyber defense coordination across service branches, and providing expert guidance and training to develop and implement cyber reforms and policies. The role requires in-country, 12-month commitment abroad, active Secret clearance, native/professional Spanish, and advanced degrees in cybersecurity-related fields (Master’s preferred). Requires O-5 military rank or equivalent civilian grade, and multiple years of strategic cybersecurity experience and stakeholder engagement with foreign governments. Compensation includes base salary of $150K-$170K, apartment and vehicle allotments, visa processing, travel, and international insurance.
Required Qualifications
- Current valid passport with at least 1 year left
- Active Secret clearance
- Spanish proficiency at Native or Professional level
- Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Cyber Defense, Global Technology and Development, Information Systems Security, or Digital Forensics; plus 6 years of cybersecurity experience OR Bachelor's degree plus 10 years of cybersecurity experience
- Rank of O-5 in military or equivalent civilian capacity (FS-02/GS-14/GG-14/NH-04) or higher
- 4+ years of experience developing strategic-level cybersecurity and cyber defense strategy, policy, or procedures
- 2+ years of experience communicating cybersecurity policy and technical concepts to stakeholders
- 2+ years of experience working with senior officials in foreign government and/or foreign military
- Experience developing programmatic approaches to complex problems
- Master's degree or Bachelor's degree required as noted above
