Cyber Security Specialist

Job Summary
Cyber Security Specialist responsible for delivering information security management across a complex project environment, designing and implementing security controls, providing guidance on security standards, and ensuring solutions meet compliance and security-by-design requirements. Will support risk assessments, certification and accreditation activities, and supplier onboarding and ongoing assurance, and play a key role in strengthening security practices across the programme. This fixed-term role runs until September 2027 and requires extensive experience in IT and information security, strong cloud security knowledge, familiarity with NZISM/PSR/CSA/CCM, and the ability to obtain NZ National Security Clearance at SECRET level.
Required Qualifications
- At least 6 years’ experience in a technical IT role
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in an information security role
- A relevant tertiary, technical or industry qualification
- Broad knowledge of security risk management in public cloud environments, including cloud service offerings and security capabilities, with deep expertise in Microsoft M365 and Azure ecosystem security
- Experience with NZISM, PSR, CSA and CCM
- Experience with and understanding of ISO/IEC 270nn, ITIL, NIST and COBIT, operating system internals and network protocols, cryptography, and security testing (white box, black box, vulnerability scanning, penetration testing)
- Proficient in risk, business impact, control and vulnerability assessments
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to lead and coordinate projects
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain NZ National Security Clearance at SECRET level
- Demonstrates knowledge and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
