Job Summary
Cyber Security Engineer role responsible for protecting and strengthening the technology environment by optimizing security tools, delivering expert guidance, and driving improvements across platforms and applications. Works across Microsoft 365, Exchange, networking, Windows Server, and third-party systems, with duties including monitoring security alerts, reporting on controls, managing vulnerabilities, assessing risks, communicating weaknesses to stakeholders, collaborating with technical teams and third-party providers, supporting incident response, testing and implementing security changes, and staying current with information security developments. Requires strong information security foundations, hands-on Defender experience, cloud security familiarity, risk management knowledge, excellent communication, and the ability to work in a hybrid Leeds-based office with potential out-of-hours coverage.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in vulnerability management across endpoints and applications
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Defender (Endpoint, Identity, Cloud, Office, etc.)
- Knowledge of technical risk management practices
- Familiarity with Windows endpoint technologies (Intune, BitLocker, Defender)
- Experience securing cloud environments (PaaS, IaaS, SaaS)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with operational teams and provide security expertise
- Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours rota and to work a hybrid schedule in Leeds
