Job Summary
Professional in the NOSC team responsible for 24x7 monitoring, operation, and troubleshooting of Hawaiian Electric networks, systems, and software. Performs proactive monitoring of alarms and alerts to identify components that may degrade or fail; conducts security monitoring and diagnostic actions, remotely accessing and analyzing systems to determine resolutions; interfaces with users and other NOSC staff, handles ticket management and reporting; maintains hardware/software inventory, documents configurations, and updates drawings; analyzes network traffic and performance characteristics to support reliable operations; participates in company emergency response activities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Three years of practical experience with IT systems and telecommunications hardware including network installation, administration and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of IP routers, switches, firewalls, LAN/WAN components and other communications-oriented subsystems
- Knowledge of information technology concepts gained through college-level courses or equivalent experience
- Working knowledge of Linux, Windows, macOS, networking ports and protocols, directory services and system architecture
- Knowledge of trouble ticketing systems and performance/trend analysis tools
- Knowledge of cryptographic systems, computer security and access control procedures
- Knowledge of automation tools including Python scripting and API use
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers, users and management
- Analytical, organizational, and conceptual skills for multitasking
- Strong interpersonal skills to influence and persuade various groups
