Job Summary
Conduct visual and dimensional inspections on welds across various projects while reviewing destructive and non-destructive testing documentation for accuracy. Provide hands-on guidance to welders, support new-hire weld tests, and help develop skill-building training modules. Ensure welding procedures, techniques, and documentation meet AWS, ASME, and customer specifications. Maintain detailed inspection reports, weld maps, and traceability records. Identify non-conformances, recommend corrective actions, and support follow-up resolution. This role supports Super Steel's Quality Department and growing welding team in Mequon, WI, focusing on mentoring others and strengthening weld processes.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) through AWS, or ability to obtain certification
- Strong background in welding inspection, fabrication, or weld quality
- Solid understanding of welding codes and standards (AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to teach, coach, and support welders
- Proficiency with inspection tools and documentation
Desired Qualifications
- Additional NDT certifications (UT, RT, MT, PT)
- Experience with quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100)
- Prior experience training welders or supporting weld tests
