Job Summary
Inspect and test structural steel during erection on general commercial building sites, performing observations, inspections, and tests followed by documenting findings in accordance with accepted engineering practice. Maintain daily communication with site contractors, technicians, and project managers to coordinate work. Interpret engineering and construction plans and specifications while applying knowledge of AWS and AISC standards. This role requires at least two years of construction and structural steel erection experience, AWS CWI or ICC Welding certification, and ICC High Strength Bolting certification. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and ability to work nights and weekends. Starting salary is commensurate with experience.
Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years' experience with construction and structural steel erection
- AWS CWI or ICC Welding certification
- ICC High Strength Bolting certification
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
- Ability to meet pre-employment requirements
- Reliable vehicle suitable for use on construction sites
- Ability to work nights and weekends, as required
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 60-80 pounds
- Ability to interpret engineering and construction plans/specifications
Desired Qualifications
- Certification as Level II in PT, MT and UT methods
- Knowledge of AWS and AISC specifications
- Knowledge of other trades such as soils, aggregates, concrete, fireproofing, EIFS
