Job Summary
The CWB Structural Steel Welding Supervisor oversees structural welding operations, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, production, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include leading and mentoring welders, conducting welder testing, interpreting structural drawings, enforcing safety protocols, and maintaining welding equipment. Candidates must possess a CWB Structural Steel Welding Supervisor Certification, have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in welding and structural fitting, and demonstrate strong leadership and technical skills.
Required Qualifications
- Current CWB Structural Steel Welding Supervisor Certification
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a CWB-certified structural welder (FCAW & SMAW, S-Class, all positions)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a structural fitter
- Proven experience in a welding supervisory or lead role
- Strong ability to read and interpret structural and fabrication drawings
- In-depth knowledge of structural steel welding processes, techniques, and equipment
- Experience troubleshooting welding machines
- Strong understanding of fixturing, heat shaping, weld defects, and corrective actions
- Working knowledge of CSA W59, W47.1, and applicable AWS standards
- Excellent safety record
- Strong understanding of OH&S requirements and CSA W117.2
- Leadership and team development ability
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Problem-solving and decision-making ability
- Ability to meet physical demands of the role
