Job Summary
Job Summary: Reviews incoming correspondence for the Office of Public Health’s Center for Vital Records and Statistics, applies knowledge of Vital Statistics Laws related to access to confidential records, assists walk-in customers requesting vital records, screens applications for proper identification, routes to appropriate units, processes payments and fees, maintains files, provides accurate information on services and fees, reconciles bank notes, updates LEERS, assists with inventory and call center operations, accesses LEERS to check status of inquiries, transcribes messages, prepares mailing labels, creates cases in LEERS, assists with birth certificate processes, trains new employees on telephone etiquette, processes paper/electronic vital event data submissions, ensures accuracy of vital records submissions, communicates with funeral homes, physicians, hospital staff, and Clerks of Court to resolve discrepancies, files records, compiles information for analysis, assists with reports for program managers, issues and records marriage licenses, serves as liaison between state registrar and public, and performs other tasks as assigned. Requirements include a Bachelor’s or equivalent combination of education/experience, strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. DESIRED: advanced degree and additional related experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, or Associate’s degree plus 3 years of professional experience, or 6 years of professional work experience
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; effective organizational and time management skills
- Great attention to detail and follow up
- Ability to manage projects, assignments, and competing priorities
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
