Job Summary
Conduct expert perioperative patient care as a scrub assistant during complex, high-acuity procedures including open heart, vascular, endovascular, heart and lung transplants, thoracic surgery, and advanced cardiac robotic cases. Verify functioning supplies and instruments prior to procedures while demonstrating advanced aseptic technique for both elective and emergency situations. Support unit operations by serving as a resource specialist, mentor, and preceptor to less experienced staff, ensuring adherence to safety standards and policies. Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse across Memorial Hermann locations in the Greater Houston area, with flexible scheduling options and relocation assistance available.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program
- Certified in Basic Life Support
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
- National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- 1 year experience as a Surg Tech I
- 2-4 years experience as a Surg Tech II
- 5+ years experience as a Surg Tech III
