Job Summary
Provide expert perioperative patient care as a scrub assistant to physicians performing open heart, vascular, endovascular, heart and lung transplants, thoracic surgery, and advanced cardiac robotic cases. Verify functioning supplies and instruments prior to procedures, demonstrate advanced aseptic technique, and ensure safe care adhering to policies and standards. Support unit operations by serving as a resource specialist, mentor, and preceptor for less experienced staff while managing time and supply efficiency. Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse across Memorial City, Texas Medical Center, Northeast, and The Woodlands locations with flexible scheduling options.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program
- Certified in Basic Life Support
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- Experience as a Surgical Technologist I (1 year)
- Experience as a Surgical Technologist II (2-4 years)
- Experience as a Surgical Technologist III (5+ years)
