Job Summary
Cutting Line Operator in the Stacked Core department responsible for accurately cutting steel into specified strip widths for transformer core assembly, loading coils onto the decoiler, feeding steel by hand, programming cut widths, performing quality inspections, maintaining records, and ensuring proper material handling. Requires high school diploma or equivalent and 3–5 years in manufacturing, with experience in Cutting, Slitting, CNC machinery; proficient in reading technical documents and blueprints; familiar with precision measurement tools and safety standards; able to operate overhead cranes and work continental day/night shifts. Hourly rate is $25.43 with shift premium; role is full-time and based in Burlington, Ontario.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing or production
- Prior experience setting up, operating and troubleshooting Cutting, Slitting, CNC machinery or related equipment
- Basic knowledge of programming software
- Basic mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and schematics
- Familiarity with production equipment and safety standards
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Basic math and measurement skills (e.g., using vernier caliper, micrometers, Allan Key, tape measurer or rulers); ability to convert measurements
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Organized and able to manage tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
