Job Summary
Cutting Line Operator in Stacked Core department responsible for accurately cutting steel into customer-specific strip widths, loading coils onto the decoiler, feeding steel by hand, programming cut widths, performing quality inspections, and maintaining records. Role requires reading work orders, using machine control and programming software, and applying precise measurement with tools like micrometers, vernier calipers, and tape measures. Must ensure safety and quality, troubleshoot machines to minimize downtime, operate overhead cranes, and maintain a clean, organized work environment. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 3–5 years manufacturing experience, experience with Cutting, Slitting, CNC machinery, basic programming software knowledge, and strong attention to detail. Eligible candidate should be prepared for continental day/night shift rotations and be able to work both independently and in a team.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED/CAEC) required; technical or vocational training preferred
- 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment required
- Prior experience setting up, operating and troubleshooting Cutting, Slitting, CNC machinery or related equipment required
- Possess basic knowledge of programming software
- Basic mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and schematics
- Familiarity with production equipment and safety standards
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Basic math and measurement skills (e.g., using vernier caliper, micrometers, Allan Key, tape measurer or rulers); ability to convert measurements
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Organized and able to manage tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
