Job Summary
The Cutter role at Redwood Smoke Shack in Suffolk/Norfolk involves front-of-house meat slicing and assembly on the Oak-fired line, including weighing portions, preparing sandwiches and platters, and maintaining strict quality, speed, and presentation standards. Key duties focus on knife work, slicing brisket and other smoked meats to order, ensuring accurate portion control, and delivering high-quality guest service. Candidates should demonstrate excellent knife skills, strong customer service, the ability to work quickly in a high-volume environment, and effective communication. Availability for shifts from mid-morning to evening, reliable transportation, and a drive to learn and grow within a team-focused BBQ concept are essential. Locations include Norfolk and Suffolk, VA, with in-person work at those sites.
Required Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in high-volume kitchens or food service
- Excellent knife skills and ability to slice meats cleanly and consistently
- Ability to weigh meats accurately and follow portion standards
- Excellent customer service and ability to interact with guests
- Able to communicate effectively and articulate clearly
- Able to work 10:00am–4:00pm and/or 4:00pm–10:00pm shifts
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to work clean, organized, and fast during busy service
- Self-management and ability to prioritize tasks during high-volume shifts
- Desire to learn and grow, with strong work ethic
