Job Summary
Operate the clicker press to cut leather and lining components to die, positioning dies on the hide to work around defects while maintaining yield standards. Verify cut part counts against tickets, bundle by size and lot, and inspect work for grain direction, edge cleanliness, and dimensional accuracy. Report hide defects and dull dies to the supervisor immediately, keeping the press bed, dies, and cutting board clean. This role involves standing for the full shift on a concrete floor with occasional lifting up to 40 pounds and exposure to leather dust and machine noise. Performance is measured by pairs cut per shift, yield percentage, and downstream rejects.
Required Qualifications
- One or more years on a clicker press, or equivalent hands-on leather cutting experience.
- Able to identify grain direction and leather defects by sight and by hand.
- Steady hands and sustained attention.
- Standing for the full shift on a concrete floor.
- Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds; frequent lifting up to 20 pounds.
- Hearing protection, eye protection and steel-toe footwear are required.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with multiple die sets and size runs.
- Experience tracking yield.
