Job Summary
Customs Clearance Agent to join a well-established international freight forwarding company in the UK. Role focuses on preparing import/export customs declarations, ensuring HMRC compliance, supporting customers with clearance queries, liaising with HMRC/ports/freight teams, and maintaining accurate records to keep shipments moving smoothly. Essential duties include processing declarations, ensuring tariff classification/valuation/origin compliance, handling duties and VAT processes, and coordinating with internal and external parties to resolve clearance issues; requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience within customs clearance, freight forwarding or customs compliance
- Experience preparing import or export customs declarations
- Good understanding of HMRC customs procedures and documentation requirements
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced logistics environment
- Strong communication skills when dealing with customers, authorities and internal teams
