Job Summary
Supervise and lead a team in processing and issuing birth and death certificates while managing performance evaluations, hiring, and staff schedules. Examine, process, and issue vital records including letters of exemplification and subpoenas, and approve completed customer applications as a Deputy City Registrar. Provide high-quality customer support in the lobby or via email, critically assess documents for issues, and resolve application problems using professional judgment. Streamline processes to improve customer experience, test IT system updates, and report operational issues. Function as a case navigator providing clear next steps and support response activities during emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college
- An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization
- Three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience
- Four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience
- Five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience
- One year of administrative or supervisory experience
- Administrative or supervisory experience in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty
- 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience
- Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience
