Job Summary
The Customer Service Representative I provides high-level customer service for MFA Oil customers and handles daily sales and deposit duties, processes payments, maintains inventory records, and completes bank deposits. Responsibilities include daily sales/deposit reporting, updating stock sheets, applying payments to accounts, handling petty cash reimbursements with proper documentation, assisting with tax-exemption forms, answering phones and greeting customers, following MFA Oil’s “Out of Gas” procedures, processing correspondence, handling new customer documentation and safety forms, maintaining filing systems, assisting with sales and collections, obtaining propane certification and filling tanks as required, maintaining relationships with employees, keeping a clean work area, adhering to policies, following the posted schedule and clocking procedures, communicating with management/vendors/customers, informing supervisors of issues, and performing other duties as assigned. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, legal right to work in the United States, 18+ years of age, some travel for training, English communication skills, successful pre-employment drug screening and background check, basic accounting understanding, proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office, ability to learn new concepts, mathematical ability for change/reports/accounting, attention to safety and environment, and physical ability to sit/stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Preferred skills include 1-3 years of customer service experience, time management, attention to detail, quick concept grasp, teamwork, fast-paced work, setting priorities, and planning capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- At least 18 years of age
- Some travel required for training
- Ability to exchange accurate information verbally and in written form with the customers of MFA Oil in English
- Ability to meet company requirements including successful pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check
- Basic understanding of accounting principles
- Ability to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery including Microsoft Office products
- Capability to learn new concepts and use technical materials
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations in order to make change, complete reports, and account for products
- Ability to visually observe and inspect items and work environment for regular job responsibilities and safety concerns
- Physical ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or sitting) for up to nine hours per shift
- Physical ability to move and position self to move and retrieve products and supplies from shelves under counters or stacks of inventory weighing up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work with hazardous materials
- Preferred Skills: 1-3 years of customer service or other applicable work experience
- Ability to meet deadlines with a high degree of time management
- Ability to perform detail work with accuracy
- Ability to grasp new concepts quickly
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Ability to work at a fast pace
- Ability to set priorities and goals and develop plans for achieving them
