Job Summary
Respond promptly to patient inquiries regarding billing, insurance coverage, and payment options. Review financial statements and explain charges, payment plans, and EOBs to ensure transparency. Assist patients in resolving billing discrepancies, coordinate with insurers to verify coverage and process claims, and facilitate timely payments. Document all interactions accurately in the system and collaborate with providers and billing departments to resolve outstanding balances. Handle in-house collections while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. This role supports the financial health of Intercoastal Medical Group's Sarasota and Manatee County locations, serving diverse patient populations with compassionate, clear communication.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in customer service or patient financial services within a healthcare setting
- Basic knowledge of medical billing, insurance terminology, and healthcare regulations
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly
- Proficiency in using computer systems and software related to billing and patient records
- Experience with insurance verification process
- Experience with explanation of benefits (EOBs)
- Demonstrated ability to handle difficult conversations with empathy and professionalism
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher
- Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare financial software
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy standards
- Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, to assist a diverse patient population
