Job Summary
Welcome patients as the first step prior to seeing the Doctor, NP, or PA, serving as a greeter, front desk receptionist, and/or cashier. Check patients in for all appointment types and check them out at the end of an appointment. Make reminder calls, answer questions, manage patient complaints, and ensure a positive experience for all of our patients. Work Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, with evening hours occasionally required. This role supports the team-based care fashion that promotes patient self-management and behavior change within Salud's integrated healthcare home.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited high school or GED
- Proficient in Elementary Math
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to work evening or weekend hours
- Ability to work under stress
- Ability to recognize, evaluate, solve problems, and correct errors
- Exhibits excellent customer service
- Ability to explain and summarize comprehensive concepts in a way that the general population can understand
- Computer systems applications (MS Office, PowerPoint, Chrome, etc.)

Desired Qualifications
- One year of front desk/customer service experience in a medical setting
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Must work well with the other patient care team members
- Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately with patients
- Professionalism and a positive attitude
- Reading comprehension and writing skills
- Ability to learn and implement complex policies and procedures
- Keyboarding and word processing skills
- One year of clerical office experience
- Familiarity with medical/dental terminology
- Sensitivity to the low-income and ethnic minority community
- Willingness to become proficient in the use of telephone, fax, copier, email, and electronic health record-keeping
