Job Summary
Handle customer requests for service and product information, process orders received via mail, phone, or in person, and provide price quotations and shipping dates. Write and edit orders, enter data to determine total costs, and route orders to appropriate departments for processing. Check inventory levels, ascertain customer credit ratings, and resolve routine requests or complaints by conferring with production, sales, and warehouse staff. Expedite "hot" orders, trace missing shipments, and attempt to sell additional merchandise. Compile statistics and prepare reports for sales and management while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. This onsite role requires minimal supervision and supports sales activity within a stable, locally owned packaging manufacturer.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- A commitment to ethical business standards and personal integrity
- Self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills in oral and written format and in terms of telephone etiquette
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers, and the ability to convey a positive and professional image of service and support to employees at all levels of responsibility in the company
- Accuracy in work and strong attention to detail
- Approachable and supportive when working with others
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, E-mail, and Excel) spreadsheet applications
- Exposure to other computer software such as accounting, purchasing, manifest or plant data collection
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Monday – Friday: This is an onsite position
